Tech Policy Summit will take place April 10-11, 2014 at the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, California. Known for its scenic vineyards and world-class wineries, Napa Valley is an ideal location to unplug and enjoy the networking and conversations that are a core part of Tech Policy Summit.
Conference sessions and meals will be held inside the elegant Mansion that is at the center of Silverado's 1,200 acre property. The Resort also includes beautiful jogging trails, 13 plexi-paved tennis courts, 10 swimming pools, an award-winning 16,000 square foot Spa, a driving range and two 18-hole, par-72 PGA championship golf courses designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.
There is so much to do at Silverado and in the nearby area that we encourage you to arrive the day before Tech Policy Summit so you have plenty of time to explore.
Travel and Weather Information
While it will seem like it's a world away, Napa is only 60 miles north of San Francisco. In fact, there are three major airports within a 90-minute drive of Napa Valley, (SFO, Oakland International and Sacramento International) making it easy to reach no matter where you are traveling from.
In addition, you can look into flights at the nearby Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport. While it's a smaller airport, it does offer direct service to several cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland and San Diego.
The Silverado Resort is located at 1600 Atlas Peak Road, Napa, CA 94558. You can find a map and driving directions from area airports at the Silverado's website.
Free self parking and valet parking is available to Tech Policy Summit participants who are staying overnight at the Silverado Resort.
If you prefer not to rent a car, you can make arrangements for a shuttle to and from the San Francisco International Airport or the Oakland International Airport by contacting Evans Transportation.
If you fly in and out of the Sacramento International Airport, you can reserve a shuttle from the Fairfield Airporter by calling 877-424-7767. Note that advance reservations are required and additional fees apply for service directly to the Silverado Resort (the hotel does not offer its own shuttle service).
The Spring is a wonderful time to visit Napa Valley. Average temperatures in April are in the low 70's during the day and the high 40's at night. There isn't a specific dress code for Tech Policy Summit, but we recommend business casual attire.
Staying at the Silverado
Tech Policy Summit sessions and meals will be held at the Silverado Resort, and we encourage participants to stay at the Resort during the conference. The Silverado features 435 private cottage suites and we have reserved a limited number of them for Tech Policy Summit participants at a special group rate.
You can book a standard guest suite, which is approximately 250 square feet and includes a king-sized bed, for a special group rate of $179 per night (not including taxes or the $20 resort fee). Or, you can upgrade to a one bedroom fireplace suite for $279 per night. The one bedroom suites range in size from 590 to 650 square feet and each one includes a private balcony, living room, dining room and full kitchen in addition to a master bedroom with a king-sized bed.
Once you register for Tech Policy Summit, you will receive an email with details on how to take advantage of the group rate. Please contact us if you don't receive that email within one day of registering, or if you have questions about the Silverado Resort.
All suites are non-smoking and your accommodations will include the following resort amenities: complimentary self parking and valet parking, wifi in your suite, complimentary tennis on any of the resort's courts, access to the fitness and workout facility and admittance to any of the over 30 fitness classes offered each week.
Dining at Silverado
Your Tech Policy Summit registration will include continental breakfast and lunch on both days, as well as a cocktail reception. In addition, attendees that book a room at the Silverado Resort for the night of April 10th are invited to join us for a special dinner.
In your free time, you may want to check out The Grill at Silverado. The restaurant is open from 7am to 9pm daily and it features contemporary wine country cuisine. You can also enjoy wine and appetizers in the Main Lounge by the fireplace or on the outdoor patio, or grab lunch in the 10,000 square-foot golf clubhouse.
